Northern Ireland Engagement Photography Mourne Mountains
Hannah & Nathan love hiking in the Mourne Mountains, so it made sense that they would choose the Mournes for their engagement shoot location. Nathan proposed on the top of Doan, right in the heart of the Mournes.
Mourne Mountains Engagement Shoot
We decided this would be the perfect place for their Mourne Mountains engagement shoot so we set a date in the diary and set off from OTT CarPark. Doan is one of the most accessible mountains in the Mournes. Thirty minutes or so of ‘hiking’ took us up to the Mourne Wall between Slieve Loughshannagh and Carn mountain. This was the perfect spot should you wish to do a wardrobe change. Depending on your location choice, some couples prefer to hike in their hiking gear and then change into their shoot clothes when we reach our location. Others prefer to wear their shoot clothes from the start if the hike isn’t too strenuous. I have loads of hints and tips for planning your Mourne Mountains Engagement Shoot in this other post HERE.
We then followed the track down into the valley and made our way across towards the ‘infamous’ bog at the bottom of Doan. The plan initially was to summit Doan but due to the high winds blowing in from the south, we decided to shoot most of their Mournes engagement session in the valley below which was a bit more sheltered. Conditions in the mountains can change quickly so at times you have to improvise to get the best engagement photos. This boggy area proved to be perfect!
It’s amazing that you can get into some of the most amazing and remote scenery in Northern Ireland in well under an hour. All it takes is a little effort but its always worth it.
